Does Ghislaine Maxwell have children? Her stepchildren and secret marriage

Ghislaine Maxwell received a 20-year sentence for recruiting and trafficking four teenage girls for abuse by Jeffrey Epstein. Jeffrey avoided justice by mysteriously committing suicide in a Manhattan jail cell in 2009. Ghislaine, who’d addressed the victims, saying she hoped her prison sentence would give them ‘peace and finality,’ expressed no emotion as the judge read her sentence. 

“Ms. Maxwell worked with Epstein to select young victims who were vulnerable and played a pivotal role in facilitating sexual abuse,” Judge Alison J. Nathan said. The judge also imposed a $750,000 fine, saying she hoped the sentence sent an ‘unmistakable message’ that courts would punish such crimes. 

Maxwell’s siblings affirmed she plans to appeal her conviction and sentence. 

Businessman Scott Borgerson and Ghislaine Maxwell married in secret in 2016. They kept denying their relationship, insisting they were old friends. 

Maxwell has no children of her own, but through her marriage to Scott, she is the stepmother to his two children. 

The world, including Maxwell’s siblings, learned of her marriage during her bail hearing. Maxwell and Borgerson’s union emerged after Manhattan prosecutors accused her of hiding her wealth. Per the New York Post, Assistant US Attorney Alison Moe said:

“The defendant also makes no mention whatsoever about the financial circumstances or assets of her spouse, whose identity she declined to provide to Pretrial Services.”

Scott Borgerson is the CEO of CargoMetrics, a company that in 2020 was valued at $100 million. Several reports stated that Maxwell had stolen Borgerson from his ex-wife. 

Borgerson and Maxwell reportedly started an affair after meeting in 2013. His ex-wife, Rebecca, learned of the secret romance after viewing an intimate video of the pair, leading to the couple’s divorce. A source told The Daily Mail:

“Scott left his wife for Ghislaine around five years ago. It’s just egregious what’s happened to Rebecca. Rebecca and Scott seemed like a really nice couple. But as time went on, he was very preoccupied and would be on his cell phone a lot, presumably on business calls. He was away a lot for work.”

Ghislaine’s brother Ian told the New York Post that the couple hid the marriage ‘to protect their young children. She did not want to submit her family to the publicity.’

Maxwell told the court that she tried to divorce Borgerson before her arrest to protect him from ‘being associated with her.’
